As we are in the 21st century there are a lot rules that students should know about what is right and wrong, and the right way to use information.
ISTE is a useful website that is used to help teachers link to the technology standards. the website has books and journals to help teachers out. This website also offers teachers professional development and offers a connection with the community.

Topic 2 Ohio Tech Standards
The Ohio Standards for technology are: ODE PDF
The standards are very close from ISTE and ODE. They differ in little ways but overall the content is the same.
I could be able to teach a few of the standards, but I would not feel comfortable. I know technology fairly well, but I would have to study up on more resources. The only one I would feel the most comfortable with is two, because students have to learn that the interaction between society and technology has a huge impact in their lives and it can be helpful or harmful. I can teach them about ethical standards, and how technology effect their environment, and culture.
The hardest I think would be the seventh one. I think this because I believe its hard to change some students minds when they are stuck in a state. The standard states its critical to teach students' understanding of their role in the designed world: its processes, products, standards, services, history, future, impact, issues and career connections. The reason I say that is because some students no matter how smart, funny, or bright they may be, if they don’t believe in themselves it’s hard to tell them they make a difference. I know I was one of those students.
Topic 3 ETech
The Ohio ETech conference is an annual conference which is used to challenge, inform, and inspire educators through the use of educational technology. It is the third largest state educational conference, and more than 6,500 educators and innovators. The conference enables Ohio educators to attend workshops, tools and techniques, get hands on experiences with products for over 250 vendors, and share experiences. Teachers can go online to iTunes or to podcast available to learn more information. They have a lot of different materials available to teachers on these resources. This i think is really awesome because its important for all teachers to continually develop and grow.
This program offers funded by a teacher planning grant, podcasts for assessment mini grant, transforming teaching and learning grant, mobile assistive technology grant, blended learning grant, telecommunications services operating grant, multimedia production grant, ARRA, and EETT.
Topic 4 EthicsAUP
AUP stands for Acceptable Use Policy for internet use. AUPs are created by schools to help protect students from the dangers of the internet. The National Education Association recommends that an AUP contain the following:
Online Safety for Students
As teachers, it is our job to help keep our students safe, that that counts for online too! As a Teacher we can stick to the boring pamphlet about online hazards, how to stay away from them, and what to do if we encounter them (say cyber bullying) but there are many more resources too. Teacher can find lesson plans online about online safety such as the one on this site. We can teach through Games, Quest Atlantis is an educational game that requires students to first complete a component on internet safety. WebWiseKids is a great site for information, activities and ideas for teaching internet safty in the classroom! Teachers can also use Role-playing or have a guest speaker. Some other ideas/websites include:
Digital Citizenship
The nine themes of digital citizenship include the following:
1. Digital Access: full electronic participation in society
2. Digital Commerce: electronic buying and selling of goods
3. Digital Communication: electronic exchange of information.
4. Digital Literacy: process of teaching and learning about technology and the use of technology
5. Digital Etiquette: electronic standards of conduct or procedure.
6. Digital Law: electronic responsibility for actions and deeds
7. Digital Rights & Responsibilities: those freedoms extended to everyone in a digital world
8. Digital Health & Wellness: physical and psychological well-being in a digital technology world.
9. Digital Security (self-protection): electronic precautions to guarantee safety.
Netiquette
Netiquette is etiquette for online/the net. As teachers we need to remind our students to mind the Netiquette. One way would be to remind them that what they put on the internet is FOREVER. You could have them think about this and internet safety by Googleing themselves. There are tons of websites that list Netiquette rules.
Topic 5 Copyright

Copy right laws are used to protect other individuals works, and to get the credit to them. Copy right laws are meant to give compensation to the correct person.
