How useful is WIkispaces?
Extremely useful , this is a web tool that you can use to create a site that people can all work together on to create different pages or topics at the same time. You can make settings to be anyone on the internet can add or delete an idea. This can be good or bad, because it can turn out to be a website like Wikipedia. If you do not want to have everyone in the world add their peace of mind, you can adjust those settings as well. Another feature I really enjoy is the feature that you can view what was edited, is a great quality because you can monitor what each student is doing. If someone deletes another student’s work then as the administrator I can see what was deleted and buy who.
Using wiki I turned a lesson created in my Developmental Content Reading class and developed it future using the wiki. Each student would be assigning a group and a topic to research. When students are searching for notes regarding the topics they will color coat what each student creates. For example if there are four students in the group student 1 will be blue, student 2 green, student 3 purple, and student four red. This will make looking at added student information easier to grade. Students will be assessed on group collaboration and individual work.

Wiki's are a great way to incorporate technology into the classroom without overloading the students. One idea I really like about the wiki is that students control their own learning. They are the ones to decide what is important and where the learning should take places. It is extremely important to teach students to learn on their own, they need to be able to think independently and work to collaborate idea . The finished project will teach all learning types, visual (with the pictures and videos), audio (with video and Vokis), and so on. Because they are working in groups, they have the opportunity to work in a way that best fits them. This is seen in the Web 2.0 tools they use and the pictures they find. The lesson reflects appreciation of human diversity because it truly is differentiation; each student has the chance to control their own learning. They select what information needs to be listed on the page, how they complete and present the material, and they may add their own style. Each student is able to be themselves without judgment or fear of rejection; almost anything goes. Students are allow to be creative and original then be a part of creating a device that is a presentation of what they have learned throughout the unit. All the materials being used in this assignment are free tools that student have access to, its free study guide, and students work on project during class time. The lesson creates a PBL by themselves and with a group, the group is given a topic and divided up among the members. They must use group collaboration to finish the project in an organized manner. They also use technology to enhance their learning. When they make their Web 2.0, they are using their research in a creative way to share their information. The information is information that they have pulled from multiple resources, they are taking control of the content and what they see as important information.
